NewsMOARS version 0.8.2 was released today. MOARS is the free, open-source Mobile Audience Response System for students to use with iPod Touch, iPhones, and other mobile browsers. Here's an overview of the new features:

Student side: Language Choice

The students now have the option of changing their activity language to a different language, provided that you've installed a new "language pack". We're working on creating a number of new language packs right now, but if you can't find the one you want (look in the student side language packs section), you can create your own by opening up the file "en_moars_student.php" from your site's student area, and following the instructions there.
How: Before they log in, there will be a button that they can push.

Surveys: Assign Second Shortcut

If you want students to take the same survey a second time, you can make a second shortcut for the survey.
How: Menu -> List all the surveys -> See full survey. At the top and bottom of the page, there's a "Assign Second Shortcut" button. Click that.
Note: This does not make a new survey. This is just a bit of "magic" due to the database restructuring.

Quizzes and Surveys: Assignment Deadlines

If you want to set homework, you can create a "start" and "end" date and time. Research shows that regularly-spaced practice helps students retain more. Using this page, you can restrict access to a homework assignment so that it is done within a particular window of opportunity. The deadline will only apply to students in the class(es) you've selected.
How: Menu -> Create / See assignment deadlines
Note: This is listed under "quizzes" but it can be used with surveys, too. Under "overview" click "read more" for full instructions.

Third-Party Add-Ons

The new update has made it much easier for third-party programmers to create add-ons for the MOARS system. We're working on the documentation now. Please see the MOARS Add-On Download Section for details.
